ACI – Built on 60 years’ experience

Harley Dale

Dr Harley Dale
Chief Economist

Dr Harley Dale has worked in the public and private sectors for more than 20 years. As an academic, a financial markets economist, a consultant, and a construction industry specialist. The majority of that time has been spent here in Australia, but he has also worked in New Zealand, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom.

Currently, ACI’s Chief Economist, Harley maintains close ties with a range of public and private industry stakeholders, and is a sought after public speaker on residential construction and the wider economy.

Shane Garrett

Shane Garrett
Senior Economist

Over more than a decade, Shane Garrett has worked as an economist in Ireland, the UK and Australia. He has held a variety of forecasting, research and consultancy roles, and has provided expert advice on the housing sector to a range of stakeholders including the European Commission. Today, Shane’s focus includes in-depth analysis of policy and data, with a view to developing evidence-based proposals regarding better outcomes for the construction industry.

Geordan Murray

Geordan Murray
Economist

Geordan Murray has a broad finance and economics background, having served as an investment analyst for a chartered accountancy firm before joining HIA. He has an honours qualification from Deakin University, in Melbourne, where his research included analysis of the dynamics of Australian house prices. Not surprisingly, Geordan now plays a key role in the development and analysis of housing policy options, and specialises in construction industry forecast research.

Diwa Hopkins

Diwa Hopkins
Economist

Diwa Hopkins is a policy economist with experience in trade and international affairs, in addition to housing policy. Before joining ACI, she worked for the Northern Territory’s Department of Housing, Local Government and Regional Services, and also for the Council of Australian Governments’ National Affordable Housing Agreement, performing statistical analysis on the Northern Territory’s social housing. Diwa now works closely with Harley on a range of economic and construction industry briefs, research projects and reports.
